What Do We Do Now...
Message for Sunday April 26th 2020 from Rev. Scott Stuart
My faith family,
Most weeks I write an introduction to worship and hold up an image of hope in the midst of our own social isolation and hardship. This week, as the news of the mass shooting in Nova Scotia came in and we continue to receive information, the question of why rises to the surface. We, as human beings, naturally want to know how and why such a horrific incident of violence would promulgate. Sadly, no matter what the answer is, it will not bring back the deceased or even ease the pain of those who have lost loved ones and friends.
As far as an image of hope, I would like you to consider that Jesus himself knew what it was like to lose loved ones and friends. He knew what it was to grieve, and He knew what it was to fall down into the dust of his life with tears in his eyes wondering why. Into this week's shooting then, comes Jesus on his knees with us, tears in his eyes, offering a hand and comfort. We may never know or understand why/how this could have happened but what we can be assured of is that Christ is there with us, crying when we cry, extending His hand of Grace.
May God be with each and every one of you this week, granting peace and the assurance that you are never alone. Amen.
Your Brother in and through Jesus, Rev. Scott
