Robert "Bob" K. Oke, 92, of K.E. Spencer Memorial
Home, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, March 9,
2022. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Robert and Blanche
(Powell) Oke.
Bob retired as chief engineer for CKCW and CFQM Maritime
Broadcasting with 55 years of service. He was a founding member of
Mount Royal United Church where he was a longtime choir member, and
also served his church over the years in many various capacities. He
was a member of the former Moncton Kinsmen Club and is a member of the
Moncton K-40 club, he was past president of the Moncton Kinsmen House.
Bob was an avid ham radio operator VE1YM, he was also a member of the
Tri County Search and Rescue and a former volunteer with the Riverview
Fire Department. In his spare time he enjoyed time at his trailer in
Shediac, going on cruises, lending a helping hand, and spending time
with his family and friends. Bob was the recipient of the Cornwell
Badge for Scouting for his service to Boy Scouts of
Moncton.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna Oke; children, Bob
Oke, Karen Budd, Michael McIntyre (Penny) and Heather LeBlanc;
grandchildren, Kari, Whitney, Melissa, Jarred, Sydney, Reagan,
Patrick, Tyler, Christopher and Hannah; sister, Phyllis Hicks
(Gordon); as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family
members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first
wife, Audrey Oke (nee Mitton) in 1993.
A Service to Celebrate Bob’s life will take place
on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm from Mount Royal United Church
(106 Mt Royal Blvd). Interment will be held at Fair Haven Memorial
Gardens.
