Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler
Welcome to the
Victoria Day weekend. Monday, May 23rd is a holiday in some provinces but not
for everyone in NB. Nevertheless, it feels good just to say we have a long
weekend, even for retired folks like me. For some people it marks the
unofficial start to summer which technically is nearly a whole month away. Of
course, that summer vibe very much depends on the weather.
On Monday, the office
will, as usual, be closed. In lieu of the holiday which we recognize on Monday,
Tracy will also be out of the office on Friday, May 27th. Then beginning June
1st, the office reverts to summer hours so Tracy will be working Mon -Thurs
9-12.
Please do not leave envelopes
with cash in the church mailbox when Tracy is not working. Give her a call to
say you are on your way please so she can be watching for you and go to the
mailbox after you leave donations in the mailbox. If she doesn't answer, please
leave her a message. With many thefts in the Greater Moncton area, we are
exercising a little extra caution to minimize unnecessary complications.
The church will be
closed for worship all 4 Sundays in August although Rev Stuart returns to work
following vacation on August 22nd. It would be a good idea to mark these dates
down. As we get closer to Rev Stuart's study leave and vacation, we will remind
you of his absences.
We have been
approached by a company that takes portraits for church photo albums. They have
some availability to take the photos in the fall, possibly November. While
there is no cost to the church to take the photos, it does take a lot of
coordination to book sittings. The company makes the money from photos ordered
from them by members of the Community of Faith.
All Covid safety
precautions will be followed. Please think about whether you might be
interested in having your photo taken next fall to make a photo directory that
will be a good representation of our church family. You will be contacted to
determine your interest.
Rev. Stuart's message
this week is entitled "Creating a Space". Take time to listen for God's voice.
Take good care. Happy
long weekend. Over the next few months, the best way to contact me will be by
email.
